About Chalong
Chalong is a working, lived-in part of Phuket, a mix of harbour, residential streets and shopping, about halfway between Phuket Town and Rawai (around 10 km to each). The village sits around Wat Chalong, and the bay is a working one, with piers, boats and a yacht anchorage. For beach days, Kata and Karon are around 15 mins away and Nai Harn around 20 mins. Boat trips to Coral Island and other day trips leave from Chalong Pier, and Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha are both in the area.
Day to day, Chalong is one of the more practical places to live in the south. Robinson Lifestyle Chalong is a full mall, Lotus's, Villa Market and Tops are within around 5 mins, and Chalong Hospital and Dibuk Hospital are close. It has a large cluster of international schools, most within around 5-15 mins, and the Soi Ta-iad Muay Thai and fitness street. Phuket Airport is around 38 km away (around 45-55 mins).
